Thirteen & Adrian Mole

There are few similarities between the book and film:

Adrian and Tracy’s parents get a divorce. The boy and girl have best friends: Adrian’s best friend is Nigel and Tracy’s best friend is Evie. Nigel and Evie went out with their friends boyfriend and girlfriend.

Adrian and Tracy have problems in their house because their parents are alcoholics and they usually fight.

Adrian is always worried about the food that he eats and about his appearance. Tracy is always worried about her appearance, too.

The two teenagers are bullied by people at school.

There are a lot of differencies between the book and film:

On the one hand, in the book, Adrian mother’s, runs away. She lives with Lucas in another house and Adrian lives with his father. Adrian’s father doesn’t have a job and he has got a lot of bills.

Adrian has a grandmother. She helps him when Barry Kent bullied him, she looks after Adrian when he’s ill and she took them to live with her because they didn’t have any electricity.

But finally, Adrian’s mother came back home.

On the other hand, in the film, at the beginning Tracy is a good student, a decent girl and she has normal friends.

She lives in a nice house with her brother, her mother (she’s a hairdresser) and her mother’s boyfriend ( he is a drugadict).

But when she met Evie, she changed a lot: she took drugs, things from other people, cuts herself and she’s sexyaly promiscuous.

Evie lives with Tracy in Tracy’s house but at the end of the film Evie cheats on Tracy when her mother’s know the problems that they have and the four women ( Evie, her mother and Tracy and her mother) talk.

In the conversation Evie says that Tracy is a bad influence on her and both girls will never be friends again.

Tracy becomes normal again.
